By extending the useful life of spent catalyst, regeneration eliminates the need for catalyst disposal. If some catalyst is too damaged to be reused and must be disposed of, it can be ultrasonically cleaned to remove all poisons (significance of catalyst regeneration). Poisoning and thermal degradation are generally slow, irreversible processes while fouling with coke and carbon is generally rapid and reversible by regeneration with o2 or h2. Catalyst deactivation is more easily prevented than cured. Poisoning by impurities can be prevented through careful purification of reactants (catalyst deactivation and regeneration). Continuous catalyst regeneration is re-injected to the top of the first reactor to complete the catalyst circulation cycle. The deactivated catalyst was regenerated in a stream of co2, heating from room temperature up to 850 °c at 10 °c/min, maintaining this temperature for 4 h [96], copyright (2019) elsevier. Considering that co is one of the products and co2 is the reactant of dry reforming of methane (drm), vasconcelos et al (regeneration of deactivated catalyst).
