Introduction

Global Aviation Gas Turbines Market (USD Million), 2020 - 2030

In the year 2023, the Global Aviation Gas Turbines Market was valued at USD 13,340.38 million. The size of this market is expected to increase to USD 18,771.26 million by the year 2030, while growing at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.0%.

Global Aviation gas turbines are a type of engine that operates based on the Brayton cycle principle. They have been pivotal in the evolution of aircraft propulsion systems, particularly in civil and military applications.

The first-generation gas turbine engines were turbojets. These engines drew in air from the front and expelled it at high speed from the rear, generating forward thrust for the aircraft. While effective, turbojets were not the most fuel-efficient option.

In contrast, turbofan engines, another type of gas turbine engine, introduced a more efficient design. These engines incorporate a bypass duct, allowing some of the incoming air to bypass the core engine and mix with the exhaust gases before exiting the engine. This arrangement produces additional thrust, making turbofans more fuel-efficient than turbojets. Turbofans are sometimes referred to as "bypass jets" due to this feature.

Global Aviation gas turbines find extensive use in both civil and military applications. In civil aviation, they power a wide range of aircraft, from small regional jets to large commercial airliners, offering reliable performance and efficiency. In military applications, gas turbine engines are utilized in fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), providing the necessary power for various missions, including combat, reconnaissance, and transportation. Their versatility, power-to-weight ratio, and ability to operate in a wide range of conditions make them indispensable in modern aviation.
